"Summer in the City": Street FoodArtistry and Glamorama Recap

Happy Wednesday!!!

Hope you are enjoying my "Summer in the City" series! Tons of fun happening so my posts have been more frequent. Thanks for hanging around for all the fun:)

So here is a recap of this weekends fabulous activities:

Street FoodArtistry Fest (@streetfoodart)

First: The Food
All the food trucks were offering a variety of full and half size selections for $5 or less. Super cheap:) My friends and I kept full on tamales, jerk and curry chicken, popcorn, grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes and gelato. I enjoyed chatting with the food truck owners and hearing about their passion for their food specialties. Complimentary drinks from Izze, St. Claire Vodka, Dos Equis and Courvoisier kept us refreshed as we walked back and forth between the indie market and VIP lounge. Walgreens UP Market passed around lattes, teas and yummy banana smoothies all day long. This was definitely a festival with a unique variety of food and every bit of it was delicious!

Here were some of my faves:

@diadelostamales had so many different options. My friend enjoyed Cuban pork and I loved the vegan black bean.

Owner Sarah of @thefatshallot has been in business for only 3 months but has clearly mastered the art of the grilled cheese! St. Claire Vodka is infused with green tea and honey which makes it a low cal liquor alternative, only 57 calories per serving!

@HerbyPop owner Melanie Monique is very proud of her tasty flavored organic and vegan popcorn.

Everyone was going "gaga" over @babycakestruck mixed berry and Chicago style pancakes. I will definitely be hunting this truck down:)

Second: The Music
On both the main stage and in the VIP lounge there was some amazing music that kept the crowd moving and entertained. DJ Alvin Black III was spinning "on the 1's and 2's" throughout the day. He teamed up with an electric violinist @edithviolin for a very "electrifying" set that had me captivated. International pop star @PMartt got the crowd jumping early in the day and Madd Rhytms showcased their amazing talent leaving the crowd wanting more.

@Pmartt was a crowd favorite
@Alvinthethird and @kiritiana

Third: The People
This festival was held at the Zhou B Art Center in the historic southside Bridgeport neighborhood. This event brought out a very diverse crowd which showed the true multicultural mix in Chicago. I ran into old friends and made some new ones. It was fun to connect with other bloggers like @MsNycole and @PatriceKCokley while hanging at the Bloggers Lounge. Jetta Bates and David Quinn did a great hosting job and it was cool to hang out a bit with NBC Entertainment reporter LeAnn Trotter who was one of the judges. Great conversation with friends in a vibrant atmosphere made for the perfect Sunday.

With @NBCLeAnn
Beyond excited to see my name on the banner with other VIP bloggers! Feeling so official:)

Kudos to Patrice Perkins @MyLifestyleZen, Jocelyn @grandbabycakes, Cle Andrea and the entire SFA event and planning team! Looking forward to SFA 2014:)

Glamorama

On Friday I attended the 22nd annual Macy’s Passport Glamorama event. Glamorama is a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and it was the perfect Chicago night, where runway fashion, high society, the star power of Sheryl Crow and complimentary Patron cocktails made for a beautiful evening. I met the amazing Candace Jordan, fell in love with Rachel Roy and MaxMara fashion lines, munched on delicious chocolate desserts and took home a pair of special edition Chicago Bulls Studio headphones that I won at the after party. It was a socialite’s dream come true!
I was feeling confident and dare I say sexy (lol) that night.

Check out my Glamorama recap on why this party had a deeper purpose on the Six Brown Chicks blog
